‘Time Shop’ raffle at wool festival to raise funds for The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice
4th May 2017

Organisers of Wool @ J13, which is set to take place on 13th and 14th May 2017 near Penkridge have come up with a novel way to raise funds for Trentham-based charity The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice. Over the course of the two day event, which is expected to attract over 2,000 wool and yarn lovers from around the country, a ‘Time Shop’ will get visitors thinking about how they would spend an extra 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes if they were able to buy extra time.

Each unit of time purchased will also buy an entry to a raffle with a host of great prizes, and purchasers will be encouraged to write down what they’d do with their extra time and add it to the time shop wall. Organiser Ingrid Wagner says:

‘We want Wool @ J13 to stand out from the crowd in many ways, and fundraising is no different. How many times have you found yourself saying ‘There just aren’t enough hours in the day!’? We are challenging people to think what they would do with that extra time if they really could buy it. The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice helps children with life limiting illnesses and their families ‘“ for whom literally every second counts. We thought the time shop would be a great way of supporting an incredible cause whilst reflecting on our hectic lifestyles and just how precious time really is.’

All funds raised will go direct to helping the charity provide a range of care services for children, young adults and their families. Liz Gratton, Head of Income Generation at The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice said, ‘This is a really great idea and it will be really interesting to see what people would do if they had an extra few minutes in their day. At The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice we make every moment count for the children and young adults who spend time at the hospice – whether it’s having fun in our playground, taking part in a music therapy session or creating a piece of art with our counsellor. Every penny raised from the Time Shop will make a difference to these families.’

The Time Shop will operate from The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice stand at Wool @ J13 on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May 2017 at Lower Drayton Farm near Penkridge, Staffordshire – handily placed just 1 mile from J13 of the M6. Single raffle tickets ‘“ equating to 5 minutes extra ‘time’ will cost just £1 each and will see purchasers entered into a raffle to win prizes that include a unique hamper of goodies donated by exhibitors, a teddy bear and a bottle of prosecco.
